MSCHF and Mercedes-AMG Transform Performance Car Parts into Radical Furniture Collection
Brooklyn-based art collective MSCHF has partnered with Mercedes-AMG to unveil a provocative furniture collection titled Not for Automotive Use, showcased during NYCxDesign 2025. This exhibition marks the first time MSCHF has opened its studio to the public, offering a unique blend of automotive engineering and avant-garde design.(Luxuryes, Hypebeast)
The collection repurposes genuine AMG car components into sculptural furniture pieces, including ergonomic chairs, standing lights, and trash bins. Drawing inspiration from Italy's 1960s Radical Design movement, the works pay homage to designers like Achille Castiglioni, known for integrating industrial materials into functional art. Each piece is made-to-order, reflecting a fusion of precise engineering and MSCHF's disruptive creative ethos.(Hypebeast, Hypebeast)
In addition to furniture, the collaboration features a limited-edition apparel capsule. Items include clothing adorned with scans of AMG engine components and a whimsical fragrance tree shaped like an apple tree, nodding to AMG's German hometown of Affalterbach.(Hypebeast)
The Not for Automotive Use exhibition runs from May 14 to May 17 at MSCHF's Brooklyn studio, located at 62 Bayard Street. The studio is open to the public from 12–5 p.m., with an opening party held on May 14 from 7–11 p.m. Limited-edition items are available for a short time only.(Luxuryes, Hypebeast)
