Triennale Milano Unveils 'Voce'—A Sonic Sanctuary for Design and Sound

Triennale Milano has introduced "Voce," a groundbreaking listening room and cocktail bar situated within the historic Palazzo dell'Arte. Designed by architect Luca Cipelletti of AR.CH.IT, this 330-square-meter space reimagines a former 1960s nightclub into a contemporary haven for auditory experiences. (casawi.eu,)

Voce está concebido como una "catedral del sonido", donde la acústica es el elemento central del diseño. La sala presenta una retícula de columnas rectangulares que crean tres pasillos asimétricos, dirigiendo el movimiento y enmarcando la experiencia auditiva. Una banda continua de paneles acústicos, que se extiende 2,2 metros desde el suelo hasta el techo, mejora la calidad e insonorización del sonido. 

The acoustic environment is further refined by a distributed mode speaker system, developed in collaboration with hi-fi expert Giorgio Di Salvo, acoustic engineer Lucio Visentini, and panel manufacturer Knauf. This setup ensures immersive audio delivery throughout the space. 

Lighting, crafted by Italian studio Anonima Luci, offers dynamic monochromatic and gradient effects, subtly animating the room in sync with its sonic landscape. Seating, designed by Philippe Malouin and produced by Meritalia, consists of modular felt units that can be reconfigured to accommodate various events, from intimate listening sessions to larger performances. 

Voce operates from Tuesday to Sunday, with cocktail service available from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. During its inaugural month, the space also welcomes daytime visitors starting at 10:30 a.m. Accessible via both the main entrance on Viale Camoens and internal museum pathways, Voce stands as a testament to Triennale Milano's commitment to integrating design, architecture, and sound into a cohesive cultural experience.
